Life can be a crazy roller coaster ride at times. Maybe you’re feeling stressed from your day-to-day job, your mother constantly wondering when you’re going to find a significant other and get married, continuously spending way beyond your means (cough), your spouse not comprehending HOW IMPORTANT it is to put the toilet seat down, your kids going through that lovely stage in life we like to call puberty.. YIKES, or you’re just feeling down in the dumps because you haven’t had a chance do spend time on yourself. Whatever is causing your overwhelming amount of stress, know this, it gets better, IF you know how to manage it and control it. Here are two tips that can help you find some sanity, gain a little confidence back and help you get back in the groove. Because, lets face it, keeping those pearly whites smiling and an positive mind can be hard, when all you want to do is SCREAM! Well, I have just what you need to tame that little inner monster from unleashing:
- Hold a high power pose for two minutes:
Social psychologist Amy Cubby at a 2012 TED Talk, spoke about the science of body language and confidence. Studies show that people who practiced a “high power pose” before a job interview had a better experience than those who practiced a “low power pose”.
Next time you’re feeling a little self-conscious or lacking self confidence, hold a “high power pose” for two whole minutes. My favorite is the ‘superhero’ pose, stand up straight, shoulders back, chin up, place your hands on your waist and legs width apart. Are you feeling that power rush yet? Hold that pose for two minutes and take a few deep breaths. If the ‘superhero’ pose isn’t for you, try the “V” shape. Throw your hands in the air as if you just hit the jackpot! That’s sure to send some power through your veins. I dare you to try one or both of these before your next Opportunity Meeting!
2. Practice gratitude now and in the future
Show gratitude of all the good things in your life, your memorable and positive experiences and be grateful for whats to come next. Jenn Scalia was faced with challenges when she first started her business as a confidence coach. At the time she was dealing with a layoff, divorce and debt. Things just weren’t going her way, but the single mother knew she had to make changes in order to better her life. She began by investing in herself through online business and coaching courses, as well as daily practices, that eventually helped her go from $0 to half a million in revenue. Not bad right? So how did she do it?
She says, “One of the first practices I committed to, was doing daily gratitude. It’s really simple and it’s a great starting point for anyone who wants to start attractive more abundance in their lives.” Every night she reflected on all of the amazing things that she experienced in her life. From the things we might find ourselves taking for granted, like running water, the delicious meal she had for lunch, or a compliment a friend shared with her. “Gratitude allows you to focus on the positive things in life – a lot of things we take for granted- and get you back into a positive, high vibe.”
So, are you looking to build your 5LINX business, and acquire more customers? Then practice gratitude for the FUTURE customers you WILL acquire! Strange concept? Let me explain.
Jenn says that she started incorporating gratitude for the future. In other words, gratitude for things she wanted (but didn’t have yet). For example, She would give thanks for booking two new clients who paid in full – even if it hadn’t happen yet. “This is very effective because the mind doesn’t know what’s true and what’s not true. So when you affirm what you want in the present tense, you actually start to believe it.” Make sense? Yup, pretty simple right!
So, start replacing statements like “I want two new customers this month” with something like “I am so happy and grateful for two new customers who purchased a monthly subscription this month” This will help your brain subconsciously attract what you want. Success attracts success!
